| How I work |
|
I?m aiming for a world where people are more collaborative, respectful and creative. I work collaboratively, and I?m learning all the time. When my clients do the same, we do great things, because ?. Creative intention drives change, but you have to tackle the constraints. We need to be honest about how things are and ambitious about how they could be. There?s a lot we?ve inherited from the past that just doesn?t work now. Those in power want to hold onto it. Tackle both constraints, but don't get fixated on them. Community in its many forms nourishes creative action. We?re social animals. Rational problem-solving is important but it?s not the only game in town. We converse. We make and remake relationships. We reach agreements and make commitments. We create shared identities. If we cultivate an astute sociability, we work better together. We have a lot to learn from each other. If we put creative intention and good relationships in place, what?s left to assure is the way we learn from each other. We can get a lot better at this ? question each other's assumptions more, look harder at the evidence, talk more openly about what?s working and what isn?t, take more risks in trying out new things and learning from action. |
